Read on to learn all about the important work that Zenlayer is doing, who we are as a company, and an overview of our core products.
Building a better-connected world
The internet is taking over all aspects of daily life. It’s changing how we work, communicate, ingest information, and consume media and entertainment. But for many people, this critical utility still isn’t available.
The United Nations reports that about 3.7 billion people — or roughly half of the world’s population — still lacks basic access to the internet. And unfortunately, some of the least developed countries are also the least connected, with only 19% of people online.
As such, the UN has a goal of providing everyone with safe and affordable access to the internet by 2030. According to the UN, achieving universal and meaningful digital connectivity — meaning a satisfying, enriching, productive, and affordable online experience — is key for enabling global digital transformation.
Everyone wins in a world that’s more interconnected with fast, efficient, and reliable digital services. For businesses, high-performance connectivity brings productivity, continuity and security. For end users, stronger connectivity makes life easier, more democratized, and more enjoyable. There is an enormous opportunity at hand for gaming, media and entertainment, cloud service providers, blockchains, and financial providers to grow user base throughout places like Asia, South America, the Middle East, and Africa, as the digital economies in these regions are developing exceptionally fast. Research indicates that emerging markets outperformed developed economies in the two decades prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and are on track to expand more rapidly looking forward. For example, most emerging economies in Asia are set to increase by 2–3% per year through 2050. In U.S. and Europe, a growth rate of just 1–2% is expected through 2050.
Achieving the UN’s goal of universal access and closing the connectivity gap will be challenging — but it’s not impossible. And this is where Zenlayer comes into play, as a global connectivity enabler that’s helping companies expand beyond their borders and bring low-latency, high-quality digital services to people deep in global emerging markets.
